SVENSKA: Joyce blir allt sämre. Förmodligen rör det sig bara om timmar nu. Ett glädjeämne för oss idag är dock att Migrationsverket ringde och berättade att Joyce nu är svensk medborgare! Ja, det var i grevens tid kan man lätt säga. Vi har påbörjat ansökningsprocessen en gång tidigare men fick inte allt klart, så i lördags gjorde vi ett sista försök "online". Skickade in en skriftlig kopia på måndag och var i telefonkontakt under dagen. En kvinnlig tjänsteman på myndigheten tog sig an oss och följde fallet till dess allt var klart – hon ringde 20 minuter efter att hennes arbetstid gått ut idag och berättade att allt nu var klart. Så nu har Joyce dubbelt medborgarskap – både amerikanskt och svenskt!
När hon först kom till Sverige 1972 blev hon förälskad i landet och människorna här, hon kände sig så hemma. Jag kom inte in i bilden förrän 1975 så hon var kär i Sverige innan hon blev kär i mig. Inte mer än rätt då att hon också fick bli svensk också rent formellt.

ENGLISH: Joyce is getting worse off by the hour. Presumably she only has hours left now. One item for us to rejoice over is that the Migration Board called today and told us that Joyce now is a Swedish Citizen! Well, that was in the nick of time one could easily say. We had started the process once before but never got it done, so Saturday we made another, last try. We sent in an application online and Monday sent off a signed (by Joyce) paper copy and were in telephone contact with the authorities. A lady officer at the Migration Office took on our case and followed through until it was all done – she called us 20 minutes after her working hours were over and told us it was all signed and registered. So now Joyce has dual citizenship – both in the USA and in Sweden.
When she first came to Sweden in 1972 she fell in love with the country and the people here, she felt so at home. I did not enter the picture until 1975 so she was in love with Sweden before she fell in love with me. It is only fare that she now also officially is a Swedish Citizen on paper.
